Three Classmates' Websites

The three websites that impress me are Denys Dozdyuk's, Monica Graham's and Allison Notter's.

I love Denys's Final Project Page the slide shows on the top really attracts me, moreover, he displayed all the video on one page, and I think that was smart to put everything on, lazybone as me, I would not click any button to link to another page.

I love Monica's Resources assignment page. She used the table to displayed all the links on the top, compared to have all the links lining up from top do the bottom, I like the way she choose to displayed the links, I do not have to scroll down to click the link.

I love Allison's Animation, it was amazing to see the time the picture moves was actually with the music. She really took care of the timing of the picture changes.

Browsers

I have started using Google Chrome as my internet browser recently and I find that Chrome loads web pages a lot faster than Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer. But, for some reason I still find myself using Firefox, maybe it's because of old habits.

Amish Village

Have been talking all the technology advance and advantage. Maybe it is time to think about life without them. I took one day to visit Amish Village in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Oh right, I have to admit that I just had a out of blue plan to go there, if you are planning to go there, PLZ do not pick Sunday, Sunday is their holy day and everything was close.
However, if Sunday is your only free day, then there is one buggy ride store open for Sunday Customers (Jessica's Buggy Ride) , Yes, that was the one I visited.
Most Amish People rejected technology for simplie life. Before I went there, I was wondering how people can live without modern technology. It looked like they were contained to keep their own living style and consistent with their religion.
The Best American Food I've ever had- The Amish dinner feast
The dinner feast consisted of total of eight dishes. The best part of the feast was realizing all the ingredients were fresh from the Amish Farms~

Blackboard

I think using Blackboard as a communication board is a good idea. However, I believe there is still space to perfect it.
First, the "Search"
There is no search engine for the certain blackboard, it is a little confusing and time-consuming for me to find the certain information I am looking for on Blackboard.

Second, the "Edit" function,
I am not sure if my professor changed the setting of the edit or that is just the blackboard. It is inconvenient for me that I cannot delete my own post.

Third, "Update" alert,
I believe it will be great if NYU blackboard has the alert function as facebook. Whenever someone has a new post, there will be a alert email or inform.

Fourth, the temporary period,
I found it inconvenient that the information of the blackboard may get washed off after a semester. It will be great if the blackboard can save all the important information longer or let students download the whole semester information as a package.

Finally, I have to get credit to Dr. Yen's hard work on summarizing and organizing the information of each class. It is really helpful for me to complete my assignment!

My iPhone

Okay, it has been a month after I experienced my new communication life with my iPhone. I have to say, the reception is really awful compared to Verizon in my neighborhood. It is weird that I can get reception in the subway but not my room. I got a lot lost calls, bad reception or static sound while talking. I started hating talking on the phone. I think iPhone did contribute some effort to my health- I got less radiation from the phone by not using it!
Okay, okay, it does have good side. I got to google map wherever I am. Playing puzzle games while commute, checking emails at anytime and using the phone as iPod.
But is it a phone? When the most important fuction is not working. I started thinking what kind of device I am using now?? Maybe it is a new way of communicating with people. Oh right, email and text also works for me~

West Point Academic School- Half Day Tour

The semester just started, but I have started feeling overwhelmed. I am happy that my brother is here to visit for three months, today is his 12 days in NYC. I finally squeeze some time out taking him out.
Something besides shopping-
West Point Academy is really close to the famous Woodbury Premium Outlet. If you are going to shop at the outlet, you should spare some time to visit this beautiful and historical school - West Point Academic.
The school has beautiful view that overlooks the Hudson River.
What shouldn't you miss? The Catholic Chapel!

Catholic ChapelThe Catholic Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity, designed by Heins and LaFarge, in the Norman Gothic style was built in 1899 and enlarged in 1959 under the direction of the noted Robert Robbins. This makes it the oldest house of worship of continuous use at the Academy.

The twenty-two stained glass windows, executed in modern style complementing the polychrome wood interior, depict soldier-saints from early, middle and modern Christian History, and memorialize Catholic graduates of the Academy killed in the service of their country.

Besides all this, the organ music that played in this chapel was fascinating. The Organ is one of the biggest in the world now.
